From a Potty Shit Show to a Potty Guru!
Back then when I was potty training my daughter, I was indeed OUT OF MY MIND.
She was non-verbal on the Autism spectrum and in preschool at the time.
One day I saw a kid in her preschool that was potty trained. That triggered me to say…
I NEED TO POTTY TRAIN MY DAUGHTER NOW!!
Julianna had shown ZERO signs that she was ready to potty train or that she was remotely interested in the potty. I ignored the teachers and therapists saying she wasn’t ready and I was full steam ahead.…
SHORTLY AFTER, WE BOTH FELL FLAT ON OUR FACES.
In other words, we had accidents everywhere. As a result, we had weeks of a literal shit show of potty training…
I thought she was NEVER going to learn and would be in Diapers for Life 🙁
I felt like I couldn’t do it. Henceforth, I felt like a FAILURE of a mother.
It was then that I decided to call MY MOM.
I told her I was trying to Potty Train and it was going very bad. I hope that she can take over while I take a work call.
When I came out I was momentarily stunned…
My mom reacted SO differently.
She DIDN’T LOSE her mind.
Even had this EASE about her, this different energy.
She EXPECTED accidents. Even anticipated them.
AND she made me realize that I was the one putting so much pressure on myself and Julianna. I was obsessed to do it “right”, to doing it “perfectly”.
She allowed me to see that it’s not a big deal and…
MESSES ARE PART OF THE PROCESS
AND
I HAD TO BE OK WITH IT.
Julianna, my non-verbal autistic child was potty trained very shortly thereafter. Now 6 years later, I’ve been coined as the Autism Potty Guru.
From a Potty Shit Show to a Potty Guru!
I have potty trained Autistic toddlers, teens, and adults.
I have potty-trained non-verbal, aggressive, hyperactive children.
I have a 100% success rate.
Because “training to potty perfection” will always leave you feeling defeated.
If you want to learn my 3 Steps To Fully Potty Train Your Autistic Child, come join my Potty Power Hour Workshop next Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00pm EST. I’ll be going LIVE to show you how I do it AND give you the opportunity to ask me any potty-related questions you have.
